Maserati officially debuted the all new 2014 Maserati Ghibli at this year's Shanghai Auto Show. Int he US, Ghibli buyers will have two trim options to choose from:
The base option includes a 325 horsepower 3.0 liter V6 Ferrari engine with 368 lb-ft of torque hitting 60 mph in around 5.6 seconds. The second option, being called the "Ghibli S" also has a 3.0 liter V6 Ferrari engine, but the S will be beefed up to 404 horsepower with 405 lb-ft of torque which shaves 0.6 seconds off the base model's 0-60 time. Both models will have an 8 speed automatic transmission. European models will be built with diesel engines.
Maserati has stated a lofty goal of selling 50,000 Ghibli models per year. As stated in our previous blog post, Maserati hopes to compete with the Audi S7, BMW 5-Series, Mercedes-Benz E-Class, Cadillac CTS and the like.
