Lamborghini Unveils Aptly Named Egoista at 50th Anniversary

By Jon Derrickson on May 30, 2013

A couple weeks ago we blogged and posted videos about Lamborghini's 50th Anniversary celebration "The Grand Giro" but we neglected to go into detail about one particular part of the celebration which was the unveiling of Lamborghini's new concept car, the Egoista.

Reviews of the concept hypercar have ranged from "absurdity" (Car and Driver) to "cool concept...a fighter jet on wheels" (Top Speed). But even the more positive reviews don't take the Egoista's design too seriously, and they shouldn't.

Lamborghini never meant to take this concept into production or to sell it to anyone. Lamborghini said it themselves as part of their press release: "If Lamborghinis are cars for the few, this one goes further. It is a car for itself, a gift from Lamborghini to Lamborghini, resplendent in its solitude. The Egoista is pure emotion, Never Never Land, which no one can ever possess, and which will always remain a dream, for everyone."

The Egoista is powered by a 5.2 liter V10 engine with 600 horsepower. The single seater interior truly is a cockpit that stays true to the car's Italian name "Egoista" which translates to "Selfish" in English.
