First we seen the silhouette, then we were briefed on the concept, and now we can finally see the complete picture of the phenomenal BMW M8 Gran Coupe. From front to back, the vehicle is aesthetically stunning, and the design team have done a wonderful job of combining pretty looks with pure aggression.
The long hood adds to the sporty effect, while the front fascia and large air intakes suggest the performance factor is most certainly there. The grille trim, which has been given a gold finish, is apparently there to bump up the luxury element of the car. Both the inlets and the roof have manufactured from carbon fibre reinforced plastic, in a bid to reduce the overall weight.
If you move around to the back of the car, you’ll discover the BMW M’s distinctive quad exhaust tips, which again have been given a gold finish. In order to enhance the mean appearance, the trunk lid has been manipulated into a streamlined spoiler, with slim taillights curving into it and rear reflectors embedded into the fascia.
You may be questioning the colour, but when up close and personal, the ‘Saleve Ver’ green paint bounces off the gold trims beautifully. Plus, it’s one of the things that make the car different, and that’s exactly what Domagoj Dukec, vice president of Design BMW M, was hoping for – “With this car, we want to reach people who are looking for something special and who want to stand out from the crowd. Here, BMW M is unmistakably taking luxury out of its comfort zone.”
While the four-door variant of the M8 Gran Coupe and the 8 series should be released in 2019, there may well be two-door options available later this year. Oh, and we could also be introduced to convertible variants, as BMW are endeavouring to immerse an 8-series family back onto the market. Adrian van Hooydonk, senior vice president of BMW Group Design, stated –
“The BMW 8 Series will take over as the new flagship model of the BMW line up and, as such, combines unsurpassed sportiness and elegance. The BMW Concept M8 Gran Coupe offers a look ahead to the most exotic and alluring variant of the new BMW 8 Series.”
No more details have been announced yet, so it will be exciting to learn about the performance and the interior in the coming future!
