Tesla Roadster Set to go Faster Than Ever
By Zlatan Stankovic on December 5, 2017
In one of the cleverest reveals we’ve ever seen, and also one of the most surprising, those who were watching the reveal of the Tesla truck thought that’s all they would be seeing. Instead, the truck was carrying something that stole the show; that something was the new Tesla Roadster.
According to Tesla, the model is going to reach 60mph in just 1.9 seconds; if you need to take a few seconds to let that sink in, we completely understand because it nearly knocked us off our feet too. If this is the case, it should out-accelerate the Bugatti Chiron as well as all the road cars you can name within the next sixty seconds. If you follow Elon Musk on twitter, you’ll know how he likes to tease and he’s already said the model will go EVEN FASTER.
Thanks to a recent interview, we know that the figures we have already are for the base model of the vehicle. In addition to the 0-60mph test, it took the Tesla Roadster just 8.8 seconds to reach a quarter of a mile and it eventually went on to travel at 250mph. In the same interview, Musk noted how there will be some special options available in a package to take the base model ‘to the next level’.
Over the years, Tesla has come to be known as a company willing to experiment and find ways to unlock extra performance and they’re going to continue this tradition with the Roadster. In a tweet on the day of the reveal, Musk stated that the special upgrade package wouldn't definitely allow it to ‘fly short hops, but maybe…’. In recent weeks, it looks as though he has been throwing curveballs to build the excitement surrounding the new model and it’s certainly working.
Finally, to leave you all drooling until his next Twitter adventure, he also said ‘rocket tech applied to a car opens up revolutionary possibilities’.
