SORA by LITO, the World’s First Electric Superbike

By Zlatan Stankovic on March 19, 2018

To any outsiders, motorbikes are extremely dangerous vehicles which are the catalyst behind millions of deaths each year. But, they don’t love two-wheelers like we do; to us bike-fanatics, they’re thrilling forms of transport which look and feel amazing. Although, like cars, they do require fuel and therefore, they do emit nasty emissions into the atmosphere. However, meet the SORA by LITO – the world’s first luxury electric superbike…

The first thing that strikes you as soon as you see the bike is it’s mean, aggressive, powerful appearance. If you assumed an electric bike would be lacking in physicality, you couldn’t be more wrong. Yet, at the same time it has a touch of elegance about it, like it could easily blend into the premium surroundings as you fly down the streets of Saint Tropez.

Moreover, all of its power is derived from the electric motor and high-density 12kWh lithium polymer battery. Now, this is where the SORA is special, because the team have managed to combine an engine-free bike with supreme performance; we’re talking 0-60 MPH in just 4.7 seconds, and a wonderful top speed of 120 MPH. In addition, the aircraft grade aluminium chassis brings the overall weight down to a respectable 260KG.

Every single part of this superbike is of the highest quality, from the superb brakes and road-gripping suspension, to the electrical seat which empowers you to transition between sport and custom. On top of the 5.7-inch LCD touchscreen, keyless ignition and USB port, there’s also a state of the art GPS system. The system allows you to select a destination and then find out whether you have enough battery charge to get there.

Talking of range, you’ll typically get 120 miles per charge, with the charging time coming in at around 9 hours. Although, with certain models, there’s a quick charge function which brings it down to just 3 hours. Going back to the GPS system, it has the capability to switch modes for your automatically after intelligently assessing your riding style, in a bid to save electricity.

If you’re anything like us, you’d love to own the SORA; everything from the aesthetically-perfect design to the outstanding specs is awesome. The only question left is the price…

So, how much will one of these set you back? $77,000 for the base model, but there’s plenty of upgrades available to take the price up, if you desire them.
