Hennessey Special Vehicles has just revealed its new Venom F5. The company designed it to be the fastest road car on the planet, making it a direct competitor to the Bugatti Chiron. The designers made sure that the Venom F5 would be timeless.
Hennessey Special Vehicles designed the Venom F5 to last for a long time. They want the car to have the same level of design and performance that will make it timeless. The company designed and built the car from scratch that includes the chassis and the engine.
The car got its name from the most powerful tornado wind speed according to the Fujita scale. It is the first rad car that can go up to 300 mph and beyond. The company collaborated with Pennzoil to ensure optimum performance of the Venom F5.
Better than the Venom GT
It is impossible not to mention the Venom GT when talking about Venom F5. The previous model is the first venture of the company into making street-legal supercars. Unlike the latest model, the Hennessey Special Vehicles based the Venom GT on a Lotus Exige.
The last model of the Venom GT features a 7-liter engine custom-made for the car. It can generate 1,244 bhp at 6,500 rpm and 1155 lb-ft at 4,200 rpm. It comes with a six-speed manual gearbox and rear axle assembly from the Ford GT. It had a top speed of 270 mph, which was sort of a letdown when Hennessey designed it to be a road car capable of doing 300 mph. Since 2010, Hennessey released 12 Venom GT models but not one managed to go over 300 mph.
In the hopes of breaking the 300 mph barrier, Hennessey Special Vehicles designed a new road car from scratch. The result is the Venom F5 that features many upgrades from the previous model.
The Venom F5 now has a 1,600 bhp that is enough to send it over 300 mph. It generates its power from the custom-made twin-turbo V8 engine. It also comes with a 7-speed single-clutch transmission that powers the rear wheels.
It has a lightweight chassis and weighs only 2,950 pounds. It has a low drag coefficient that allows it to accelerate from zero to 186 mph in less than 10 seconds. It is much faster than the F1 racecars today. It can go from zero to 249 mph and back to a full stop in less than 30 seconds, which is faster than the current world record held by Koenigsegg.
Aesthetic Value of Venom F5
As soon as you see the Venom F5, you’ll notice that it doesn’t look anything like the Venom GTs of the past. It doesn’t look like a Lotus car anymore. Hennessey and his design team came up with a more elegant design that’s aerodynamic.
With the use of computational fluid dynamic calculations, Hennessey made sure that the Venom F5 cuts through the air with ease. It has features such as active wing elements and flat under floor to reduce drag. It is extremely lightweight, which contributed to its speed.
Interior of the Venom F5
The cabin of the Venom F5 will be spacious just like the Venom GT. It features high-end materials such as leather upholstery and carbon fiber and aluminum trims. The final model might come with a touchscreen, just like other road cars on the market today. It is also large enough to accommodate the typical American adult. It has the typical safety features that include harnesses to keep the driver in place while speeding on the track.
About the Company
John Hennessey founded Hennessey Performance Engineering in 1991. Its mission is to make design and manufacture parts and engines to improve the performance of road cars. The company makes and displays its cars at its workshop and showroom facility at Sealy, Texas. The company has a wide range of high-performance engines and car parts used to upgrade various cars. The company tests its engines and other parts on the track to ensure their performance.
No other car tuner in North America owns a test track. The company maintains a drag strip next to its workshop and showroom. This makes it easier for the company to test out new products straight out of their workshop.
Founder John Hennessey made sure that the facility has everything the company needs to design and manufacture custom engines and other high-performance car parts. It features 20 service bays; welding and metal fabrication shop; four-wheel modern alignment rack; and 16 vehicle lifts.
The facility also has a 1/4 mile drag strip and a 1.4-mile test track. It has a showroom that features all its special vehicles and a customer waiting area. The employees of the company are experienced craftsmen with a combined experience of more than 100 years in designing, manufacturing, installing, and testing high-performance car upgrades.
Short History of Hennessey Special Vehicles
Since 1991, Hennessey Performance Engineering has been making cars go fast. The company only made high-performance parts, but it got into designing an entire car when founder John Hennessey wanted to put a twin-turbo Viper powertrain into a lightweight mid-engine car.
The idea became a reality when the in-house team started designing a road car based on the Lotus Exige. It took the company six years to make the dream come true. With the help of Delta Motorsport from the UK, Hennessey refined the design of the super road car and its aerodynamics. The UK firm also created customized read and front structures, brakes, suspension, and a carbon fiber body. The result is the first Venom GT.
Many car enthusiasts are excited about the Venom F5.Hennessey Special Vehicles is going to will be making 24 units of the new car at its facility in Sealy, Texas. They have a price tag of $1.6 million. The company scheduled deliveries of the car for the first quarter of 2019.
The bad news is that only the privileged few have the chance to own a Hennessey Venom F5. John Hennessey himself will be choosing who gets to buy one when it is ready for delivery.
