Over the past few months, the rumor mill has been going into overdrive regarding the Lamborghini Urus SUV but we finally have some more good news to bring you. On December 4th, Lamborghini will be unveiling the production version of the model!
Ever since the concept was launched in 2012, the excitement has risen and fallen more times than a rollercoaster ride but we finally have the news we’ve been waiting for. Since the LM002, Lamborghini hasn't ventured into the SUV so this announcement is extra special for the SUV segment as well as the wider auto industry.
Marking 24 years since the LM002 ceased production, we’ve been provided with teaser images and it looks as though the concept hasn't been tampered with too much. With this, we can say that it has character, something unique when compared to other Lamborghini models (in addition to other SUVs), and a particular difference to its corporate cousin; the Porsche Cayenne.
Sticking with the Cayenne, there will be one similarity at least; the love for the car coming from the tuners. Already, Denis Mulyava, a rendering artist, has created one version of how an altered Urus could look. After teaming up with Topkontur, a Russian tuning shop, the model looks extreme, stunning, and certainly something that would turn heads when driven down a crowded street.
In one rendering, we see the Urus with golden rims and a camo wrap which doesn’t look out of place in a desert setting. Elsewhere, we’ve also seen an orange wrap boasting plenty of modifications to the exterior. In the report that came with the different versions, it was also claimed engine improvements would be made; even though early suggestions from Lamborghini point towards a 187mph top speed straight from the box.
CEO of Lamborghini, Stefano Domenicali, has already suggested the Urus will lap the Nurburgring race track faster than any other SUV in the world. With this, we can be certain that various tuned versions of the Urus will soon be hitting the road alongside the standard model. What does this mean? For one thing, we’re more excited now than before (if possible!).
Keep 4 December clear in your diaries!
