Huansu Auto – a Chinese automotive brand – have taken inspiration from the awesome Lamborghini Urus to launch their own sporty SUV. The vehicle is the first in a line of “X-Series” and will hit the Chinese market in just a couple of days. But, it’s important to distinguish this from the Urus.
The Urus is a powerful supercar within an SUV shell; a menacing vehicle with 650-BHP of serious aggression under the hood. It can top 186-MPH and fly from 0 – 62-MPH in a mere 3.59 seconds. It’s just an all-round dream SUV. On the other hand, this X-Series generates a moderate 195-BHP from a 2.0-liter turbocharged engine.
Who will be manufacturing the car? Well, Huansu Auto have teamed up with Beiqi Yinxiang Automobile. They’re a combination of BAIC and the Yinxiang Motorcycle Group, and will position itself on an outgoing BIAC SUV platform.
The only advantage it has over the Urus (not that we should be comparing the two) is that it has more room on the interior. There’ll be an option to choose either a five-seat or a seven-seat version, so there will be extra space for passengers. If you’re interested, the Urus can only seat four people.
Now, the marketing strategy of Huansu Auto says it all… they’re only going to be targeting “third-tier cities”, and will be avoiding major areas such as Shanghai and Beijing. Considering this is a knock-off version of the Urus, it’s not surprising to understand it’s much, much cheaper. The X-Series will range from ¥100,000 to ¥150,000, which is around $15 – $23,400. Just to put that into perspective, the Lamborghini urus starts at around ¥3.13 million.
