GMC has simplified the search for a 2019 GMC Sierra 1500. This recently re-designed light-pickup was previously offered in multiple bed lengths and cab configurations. However, for 2019 – the Sierra 1500 arrives to dealerships as a base or SLE edition, with a single double-cab, standard-length bed, powered by a potent 5.3-liter V8, tons of tech, and starting price of $36,595 – which includes GMC’s $1,495 destination charge.
While the GMC Sierra has always been a simplistically designed pick-up, the 2019 takes it to a new level. The 2019 GMC Sierra 1500 is entering a final phase of its current generation, which likely accounts for the lack of bed and cabin options. This doesn’t make the Sierra 1500 Limited any less attractive – just easier to choose. The current 2019 GMC Sierra 1500 is powered by a 5.3-liter V8 engine that belts out 355 horsepower and 383 pound-feet of torque.
Paired to a six-speed automatic transmission, this two-wheel drive pick-up is rated at 9,400-pound capacity and can be upgraded to a four-wheel drive edition for an additional $4,000 on the base Sierra or $3,400 in SLE trim. According to EPA-estimated fuel economy ratings, the 2WD configuration returns 15 miles per gallon in the city, and 22 mpg highway. 4WD editions drop by one mpg on the highway. The 2019 GMC Sierra 1500 is offered in two trims – the base Sierra and enhanced SLE.
The base Sierra 1500 Limited is well-equipped with standard features including chrome bumpers and grille, 60/40-split seating, a trailering kit with hitch and electrical connectors, and vinyl flooring. The Sierra 1500 base features a seven-inch infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility, a 3.5-inch digital display in the instrument cluster, LED lighting, and a torsion-bar-assisted tailgate. Consumers can upgrade their base with a Convenience Package for an additional $835 that offers power and heated outside mirrors, LED cargo box lighting, a 110-volt AC power outlet and keyless entry, an Essentials Package that includes rubber floor mats, a tonneau cover, and chrome side-steps for $1,295, or the $385 Protection Package with all-weather splash guards and floor-mats.
The 2019 GMC Sierra 1500 SLE has a starting price of $41,795 and includes each of the upgrades listed in the Convenience Package, rides on 17-inch alloy wheels, increases the infotainment screen to an eight-inch version, and includes SiriusXM and HD radio. A larger 4.2-inch instrument cluster digital display is also featured in the SLE. This upgraded Sierra 1500 opens the door to the SLE Value Package for a cool $1,880 that offers remote starting, integrated trailer brakes, power driver seat, dual-zone climate control, and a rear-window defogger. The Black Package for $3,225 extra packs the Sierra 1500 SLE with black painted side steps, and 22-inch black painted wheels, while a $3,295 Chrome Package offers similar enhancements in chrome.
While its rather simple to configure, the 2019 GMC Sierra 1500 is a rather impressive pick-up that returns good fuel economy, has plenty of power, and creature comforts most consumers will find beneficial.
