The Geneva auto-show is a dreamland of supercar. So, naturally that’s where Italian (now Indian) design house Pininfarina unveiled its H2 Speed, a supercar concept powered by a hydrogen fuel cell to offer drivers quick lap times and only water vapor for emissions.

The electric Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG set a new EV record at Nurburgring finishing the lap in 7 minutes 56 seconds. Not only is this the fastest time for an electric vehicle, but it is also the first electric vehicle to finish the lap in under 8 minutes. The record was previously held by the all electric Audi R8 who made the lap in slightly over 8 minutes in July of 2012.

Electric vehicles being the standard mode of transportation may be a ways off, but it just got a little bit closer as Elon Musk confirmed recently at the D11 Conference in California that Tesla would launch in the next 3-4 years an EV in the $30,000 to $35,000 price range.

The first Audi R8 e-tron was unveiled as a concept car at the 2009 Frankfurt Motor Show and has since been tested and tweaked by Audi resulting in ten different versions of the all electric car. Many speculated that the testing would at least result in a limited edition or limited run car but alas Audi has but all speculation to rest by officially confirming that the e-tron will not make it to production.

As you very well may know, Elon Musk founded Tesla Motors in Silicon Valley about ten years ago. Shortly afterwards, he took on the role of CEO. In addition to that position, Musk currently serves as the electric car company’s head of product design. With that in mind, plus the fact that Musk has been known to be somewhat more vocal and opinionated than the traditional CEO, it’s no surprise that he had something to say when his latest product—the Model S—was criticized in a recent NY Times article.
