Electric Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG Sets EV Record at Nurburgring

The electric Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG set a new EV record at Nurburgring finishing the lap in 7 minutes 56 seconds. Not only is this the fastest time for an electric vehicle, but it is also the first electric vehicle to finish the lap in under 8 minutes. The record was previously held by the all electric Audi R8 who made the lap in slightly over 8 minutes in July of 2012.

Many speculated that the testing would at least result in a limited edition or limited run car but alas Audi has but all speculation to rest by officially confirming that the e-tron will not make it to production.
