It’s been nearly five years since Volkswagen were active in the US with a car that could accommodate more than five people. That project was the Volkswagen Routan, and its US lifespan stretched from 2009 to 2014. But, the Routan was outdated and failed to generate any traction in the market.

Almost two years, Porsche announced that they’d be embarking on an electric car project, which they dubbed as Mission E. But, today, they’ve finally provided the project with a meaningful name – Taycan. According to the manufacturer, the name translates as “lively young horse”, which refers to the galloping steed in the Porsche logo.
