Ferrari unveiled the 512 BBi at the esteemed Frankfurt Salon, featuring subtle enhancements to its predecessor, the BB model. Noteworthy additions included prominent exposed driving lights at the front and rectangular parking lights adjacent to the rear exhaust. However, the most significant improvement came in the form of the replacement of carburetors with the advanced Bosch K-Jetronic fuel-injection system.
 
Thanks to the fuel-injection system, the 512 BBi experienced a remarkable boost of 20 foot-pounds of torque over its carbureted counterpart. Sporting this enhanced configuration, the car achieved a swift zero-to-sixty time of just 5.4 seconds, while effortlessly reaching a top speed of 174 mph. Production of the remarkable 512 BBi continued until 1984, with a total of 1,007 units crafted, before Ferrari's introduction of their next mid-engined, flat 12-cylinder masterpiece, the Testarossa.
