1978 Lincoln Versailles - "Hot Rod Lincoln" Sleeper Build
True Barn Find - Rescued in 2013 | Owned by a Friend of the Consignor Since New
A genuine luxury sleeper, transformed into a 450+ horsepower street beast - without
losing a single drop of the factory opulence that made the Versailles Lincoln's flagship
personal luxury sedan. This isn't just a hot rod build - it's a 2-owner car with a
remarkable story behind it.
The Story
This Versailles was purchased new by a good friend of the consignor, who was its original
owner from day one. It was then put away in storage and remained untouched until 2013,
when it was rescued from a barn with 13,900 original miles on the odometer. That's the
kind of mileage you simply do not find on a 45-year-old American luxury car - let alone
one with this kind of build underneath it.
2 owners. Original body. Original interior. Modern muscle where the original 302
big-block used to live.
A Rare Find - In Every Sense
The 1978 Lincoln Versailles was Lincoln's answer to the Cadillac Seville - and only one
model year removed from the original 1977 launch. Fewer than 53,000 Versailles were built
across the entire 1977-1980 production run, with '78 being among the lowest-volume years.
Finding one today is hard. Finding a documented, original-owner, 13,900-mile example
that's been thoughtfully hot-rodded without cutting up the body? That's essentially one-
of-one.
