This 1966 Chrysler Newport 2-Door Hardtop is an exceptional survivor with 65,947
indicated original miles, original paint, extensive documentation, and decades of known
local Long Island history.
Originally from Massapequa, New York, this Newport has remained remarkably intact over
the past six decades. The current owner actually remembers the car being driven by its
longtime owner as far back as 1978, giving this Chrysler a level of known history that's
increasingly difficult to find.
Rather than being restored, the Newport has been carefully preserved and mechanically
maintained. Its original paint, original interior, factory details, and wonderful age-
earned character remain intact. As the saying goes, they're only original once-and that's
a major part of this car's appeal.
Under the hood is Chrysler's 383ci V8 with a two-barrel carburetor, paired with an
automatic transmission. The engine compartment retains an impressively original
appearance, right down to the natural patina on components such as the valve covers.
The 383 starts easily, idles smoothly, and the Newport is described as an excellent
driver. The current owner drives the car regularly and reports dependable operation
through both warm and cold weather.
