Few pre-war utility vehicles are as rare or as recognizable as the 1937 Chevrolet Suburban Carryall. Considered one of the earliest American SUVs, these half-ton Suburbans were built in limited numbers and are seldom seen today-especially at the level of quality found in this exceptional custom restoration.

Purchased from a family member in 1984, this Suburban was immediately placed into storage to preserve it until a complete restoration could be undertaken. In 2008, a meticulous frame-off build began, culminating in its completion in 2012. The result is a beautifully crafted restomod that blends the timeless character of Chevrolet's iconic Carryall with modern performance, reliability, and comfort.

Unique History

This Suburban carries a fascinating documented history.

During disassembly, the original lettering hidden beneath decades of paint was carefully uncovered and researched. After extensive investigation, it was discovered that the vehicle originally served at a hospital in Denver, Colorado. The original hospital name was preserved beneath the paint, and period photographs were located showing the Suburban in service.

Further research led to contact with the former hospital director, who confirmed the vehicle's history and remembered it from his years at the hospital, adding an exceptional level of provenance to this already rare Chevrolet.
